As a member of a youth engagement program hosted by the Serpentine Gallery and run by specialist agency BREAK COMMS and mentored by POCC Creative Agency. Thus, began Serpentine studios, our first event celebrating the photographer James Barnor.
This zine was born out of a response to James Barnors' photography specifically his talent for capturing society through means of intimate documentation. His quote that started this all was "A civilization flourishes when men plant trees under which they themselves will never sit."
As a youth I occupy unseen spaces and with people of a variety of expressions. Particularly the punk/alternative scene as people of culture are less likely to be documented or represented I wanted to give them an opportunity to be showcased and heard.
